After her desperate call for him to help to save the little girl from her father's harm, their relationship has reached a standstill, one she knows will only change if she tells him all about her visions, even though, she is not clear how they really come to her. The way the story is written, the suspense, and the angst to find the criminal perpetrator, just puts the reader at the edge, and once you start reading you do not want to stop. You can also feel the emotions of her and her partner, the frustration of Nate and fear / frustration in Laura but she doesn’t let her stop her from doing her job! This one ended interestingly w what happens to the killer. I loved it! If you like suspense, some psychic intuition and solid detective work too then read this entire series. - 2.0 out of 5 stars from The Avid Reader -- Not Up To Usual Incredible Standard : I don't know, can't explain it: I felt as if I was stuck in a rut in this book. It kind of flounders. I'm completely over the "tension" between Nate and Laura re her abilities. It just feels like repetition, now. Then there are the ongoing sagas of the Mayor's daughter and her own daughter. Sigh. I usually love Blake pierce, but I bet some of the writing could be lifted straight out of the earlier books. Tbh, the whole thing felt cardboard cut out to me. Not impressed.
